One of the more tried and true pieces of gear that I own, Final Rise spares no expense in making quality products. Everything about the vest has a purpose, with no frills, and that's what, in my opinion, makes it so great. It weighs next to nothing, has tons of functionality, Let's get into some of the technical aspects of the vest.
Features:
-Webbing in the straps coming down the chest for training devices, cameras, or anything else you may need to have quick access to. Final Rise sells a variety of pouches and holders that work seamlessly with this system.
-Adjustable straps on the front of the sling, back, at the waist, and even on the bird-carrying pouch so that this is fully customizable when it comes to fit. There are also several sizes to be ordered to ensure you have a vest that fits snugly and doesn't sag.
-Modular shell pockets and water bottle holders on the vest. Going far from the truck? No problem. The shell pockets and water pouches have you covered when it comes to having enough shells, somewhere to put your phone if needed, water for your bird dogs (and yourself), and not having to lug around extra gear anywhere else.
-Bird Pouch: This is by far my favorite part of the vest. The pouch comes inward to hug your back, so even when you have your limit in the vest all at once, the weight isn't off-center and the vest barely feels any heavier. the access on both sides allows you to safely keep your firearm in one hand while easily pocketing the bird with the other.
Molle Webbing throughout the back of the vest allows for TONS of options when it comes to storing extra stuff. First aid kits, bird dressing gear, even a lunchbox can easily be attached so that you can go father with less, and do it comfortably.
Conclusion: This bag has plenty of selling points in my opinion. The vest overall makes no compromises on quality. The entire vest is made in house at Final Rise here in the US, which personally is also a huge plus. From the bird pouch to the shell holders, the attention to detail is truly astonishing. Matt and company at Final Rise have thought of every scenario and really put the vest through all of its paces before bringing it to market to ensure that their customers got a product they were proud of. At around $350, this bag somewhat reflects the quality in the cost. However, some of the simple browning or pheasants forever vests at Scheels, Dick's, and other sportsman stores can run above $100 relatively quickly. If you're a serious upland hunter of any kind, whether that be pheasant, prairie chicken, quail, or grouse, this is your best bet. I've put this vest through its paces for 3 full seasons, taking it through some very thick brush, getting it soaked falling through the ice (don't ask), and putting hundreds of birds through it. It's seen it all, and it trully looks like it's still brand new. No tears, no fraying of any webbing, nothing. There are tons of features not mentioned above, such as how easy this thing is to clean, but i've hit the ones that have been most important to me thus far.
If you're in the market for a quality upland vest that's a major step up from the very basic ones at big box stores, look no further. Matt and the team at Final Rise make a truly superior product, keep the work here in the US, and (though i haven't had to use it) have great customer service and promptly adjust any issues with customer orders.
